In 1960s Poland, sheltered Anna (played by Agata Trzebuchowska) is preparing to take her final vows to become a nun and goes to visit her only relative, Wanda Grusz (played by Agata Kulesza), who is a former prosecutor for the Communist Party and a cynical alcoholic. Orphaned as a child, Anna learns that her real name is Ida Lebenstein, she's Jewish, and she'll need to understand her identity, family, and possible connections to the Holocaust before she can plan her future. - Director
