In this first feature film directed by a Saudi Arabian woman, 10-year-old Wadjda (played by Waad Mohammed) is a rebel in her conservative Riyadh community, and a new bike she can't afford will help her beat her best friend—a boy named Abdullah (played by Abdullrahman Al Gohani)—in races. When her school hosts a contest with a cash prize for reciting Koranic verses, she knows what to do.
