- Follows Shoni Schimmel, who wants to be the first student from the Umatilla Indian Reservation to get a college basketball scholarship and becomes a national star after she transfers to a high school in Portland, Oregon. Her fiercest supporter is her mother, coach Ceci Moses, who believes she was passed over by college scouts during her high school days because she is a Native American.
