Paloma, an 11-year-old girl living in a Paris apartment building, senses that adulthood brings only despair so she makes a plan to commit suicide on her next birthday. She begins filming the people around her to document their disappointments but reconsiders her options when she finds two kindred spirits: the concierge who loves books and an elderly Japanese tenant.
